When did you first hear Ratt?
What attracted you to them and why?
|
Back in 1984, when I was listening to FEN (the Far East Network radio.
It is called as AFN Tokyo for now - American Forces Network - which is
broadcasted from U.S. Air Base in Yokota), those cool riffs caught my ears.
Yes, it was Round and Round.
But, unfortunately, I couldn't recognize what the DJ was talking about,
because it was in English (of course! LOL). I'd wanted to know what the
band playing it was so badly.
A little while after then, a Japanese music tv show played the video of
Round and Round. It made me figure the name of the band. I went to buy
"Out of the Cellar" and fell in love with them at the 1st listening.
And, another point of them that have kept attracting me is (other than
their great shows), they don't have "skippable" tunes in albums
if you ever attracted by their music.
They've not had top 40 hits since Round And Round. However, the albums
of most of the bands who have had big hit singles are like "a few
catchy tunes and forgettables", like a pendant which has a big expensive
gemstone as its head and strands it by a chain, if I speak figuratively.
RATT's albums are like a single strand gemstone necklace... You know what
I mean?
